As an oil painter, Aumi has always been drawn to the works of the old masters and their quality, skill, and beauty.  Always striving to imbue these qualities into her own paintings, she felt a pull to express her own creativity within the framework of the old masters' style.  She began painting people and objects from new angles, with new techniques, and with new eyes.  Often, she painted with creative license, adding what her inner eye saw.

Abigail Steidley, a certified life coach, watched this process with fascination, because she saw Aumi capturing not just the physical representation of the person, but the hidden light, the hint of personality beneath the skin.  In coaching terms, she saw Aumi capturing the Essential Selves of her subjects.  Abigail also saw Aumi's still life paintings becoming more than the objects themselves but a glimpse into another world.  Thus, and idea was born.
